Why Not Universal Car Insurance?

As much as I would enjoy this "free" service (at the expense of other taxpayers) the fact is that social-insurance and welfare programs do not benefit the economy — or the recipient — over the long run. The welfare state has eroded the concept of personal responsibility, and for affected industries it has replaced the free market with a central economic system that promises higher costs and lower quality. The welfare state accomplishes the exact opposite of what it intends to do. It is a bane to the general wellbeing of society.

Swedish security police eye terror T-shirts

Swedish security service Säpo has said it is monitoring Danish clothing firm Fighters + Lovers, which relocated to Sweden last year after six of its members were convicted of supporting terrorism.

It's just silly if it wasn't for the fact that real tax money goes to waste.

A Follow Up To “I Hate What America Has Become”

I can’t vouch for the authorship, but it looks/sounds/reads the same. More importantly, it is the follow-up thoughts and plan for correcting the mess he discussed in the first piece that is worthy of note and careful consideration.

Connecting the Dots: Cosmic Climate Change, Financial Terrorism

This is a lengthy read but worth it.

The only thing that can stop the juggernaut of destruction is a fundamental change in consciousness, a new - or rediscovered - awareness that it's not us, the friends and family we love and strangers we can relate to, that is to blame for our dangerous predicament but a sub-species that has placed a dollar sign on every living thing on this planet... down to the very air we breathe. It will not stop until we become aware of its presence.

PERMANENT AGGRESSION: War on the horizon in Latin America

The Empire will stop at nothing to find mechanisms and techniques to achieve its final objective, and we cannot disregard the possibility of a military conflict in the near future. If the US places Venezuela on the “terrorist list” this year, we could be on the verge of a regional war.

Want to run really, really fast? Smoke pot.

No way you can run 60 meters in under 7 seconds if you’re not stoned. We need sports to be on an even playing field without the performance enhancement of pot. It’s not fair to the non-pot smokers who are stuck in 2nd gear and end up lagging embarrassingly behind.

George W Bush's top political adviser has said he was 'proud' of controversial techniques such as waterboarding, which he claimed broke the will of terrorist.

Karl Rove - known as the former president's 'brain' - said he did not believe that the interrogation method amounted to torture.

China hits back at Obama over currency policy

China on Friday hit back at an attack from US President Barack Obama over currency policy, saying the yuan's value was not a political one and was not the key to global trade imbalances.

Mr Obama on Thursday called on China to adopt a "market-oriented" exchange rate policy, increasing the pressure on Beijing to allow the yuan - effectively pegged to the dollar since mid-2008 - to appreciate.

Ground Zero workers win $657m settlement for health problems

Thousands of firefighters, police, contractors and others who worked at "Ground Zero" in the ruins of the World Trade Center sued the city and its contractors for claims of injuries associated with their rescue and clean-up work.

The settlement will be drawn from a federally financed insurance fund - the WTC Captive Insurance Company - created in 2004 with a $1 billion grant from the Federal Emergency Management Agency.

Huffing Biggest Drug Threat for Tweens

For parents, the frontlines of the war on drugs may involve common household items such as nail polish, glue, bleach, or air freshener -- this according to the results of a new national health study.

In fact, according to information compiled by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) from 2006 through 2008, more 12-year-old children are "huffing" or inhaling dangerous chemicals than using marijuana and cocaine combined.

Sneaky Anti-terror Cameras Used In War On The Motorist

TECHNOLOGY to fight terrorists is being used by “town hall Stasi” to hike parking fines and rake in cash from motorists, the Tories said yesterday.

Councils routinely use Automatic Number Plate Recognition technology to clamp down on parking offences, they claim.

The device scans 3,000 vehicles an hour and cross-checks in seconds with police, the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency and insurance databases.

This allows parking tickets to be issued by computer.

Is China actually bankrupt?

2009. Yes, China announced that its proposed annual budget for 2010 would produce a record deficit, but the deficit is just $154 billion, or 2.8% of China's gross domestic product. In contrast, the Congressional Budget Office projects the U.S. budget deficit for fiscal 2010 at $1.3 trillion. That's equal to 9.2% of GDP.

St Hilary's Primary kids traumatised by teachers’ Holocaust game

A MOTHER is calling for three teachers to be suspended after her daughter and her classmates were subjected to a “cruel and unethical” Holocaust role play game.

Pupils at St Hilary’s Primary were “hysterical” after deputy head teacher Elizabeth McGlynn segregated nine youngsters in Gerry Blair’s P7 class and told them they were being taken away from their families.

It was the start of an ordeal designed to give the 11-year-old children an insight into the horrors of the Holocaust as part of a project they are doing about the Second World War.

Another WWF assisted IPCC claim debunked: Amazon more drought resistant than claimed

A new NASA-funded study has concluded that Amazon rain forests were remarkably unaffected in the face of once-in-a-century drought in 2005, neither dying nor thriving, contrary to a previously published report and claims by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change.

“We found no big differences in the greenness level of these forests between drought and non-drought years, which suggests that these forests may be more tolerant of droughts than we previously thought,” said Arindam Samanta, the study’s lead author from Boston University.

Climategate: the IPCC's whitewash 'review' is the AGW camp's biggest mistake yet

It looks as if the tottering IPCC has just made its biggest mistake yet. Twenty-four hours after the announcement of an “independent” inquiry into certain aspects of its activities it is possible to make a considered assessment of its significance. By any reasoned analysis, it is not only a whitewash but one in which the paint is spread so thinly as to be transparent.

First, who appointed this review body? Those two iconic standard bearers of climate science objectivity, UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon and IPCC head (still!) Rajendra Pachauri. There is nothing like being judge in your own cause – it secures a less damaging verdict.

How Israel Wages Game Theory Warfare-Part 3

How Israel Wages Game Theory Warfare-Part 3
January 6, 2010 by Jeff Gates

Below is the third installment in a 5-part series regarding Pakistan.

The destabilization of Pakistan began with the December 2007 murder of Benazir Bhutto after Mark Siegel, her Ashkenazi biographer and lobbyist, assured U.S. diplomats that her return was “the only possible way we could guarantee stability and keep the presidency of Musharraf intact.” That advice is consistent with how Israel wages game theory warfare.

"Palestinians should now declare their independence"

The Palestinians want the same freedom that the Jews pined for - a safe home of their own. They should declare independence. Then it is up to us - the watching billions - to pressure our governments to make it real, rather than a howl in the dark.

Israeli historian: Israel could find itself forced to wipe out Europe

“We have hundreds of nuclear warheads and missiles that can reach different targets in the heart of the European continent, including beyond the borders of Rome, the Italian capital,” Karfeld said, adding that most of the European capitals would become preferred targets for the Israeli air force.

The Israeli historian reiterated Israel’s ability to destroy the whole world whenever it felt its existence would be doomed to extinction.
